Lesaffre Egypt, Is a subsidiary of Lesaffre and is 100% owned by the holding company with Lesaffre Egypt for yeasts industry is an Egyptian joint stock company for producing baking yeasts and yeasts extract. Lesaffre Egypt is part of Lesaffre Middle East and Central Asia baking region and its manages all baking products and service of Lesaffre in Egypt.
Yeasts can be considered man’s oldest industrial microorganism with research showing bread and bread making instruments being used in ancient Egypt. Archaeologists excavating in Egyptian ruins found grinding stones and baking chambers as well as drawings of 4,000 year old bakeries and breweries.
A bakery staple, Yeast contains primitive fermentation-derived fungal cells. Such yeast activity creates carbon dioxide that provides leavening and enhances the taste of the final product. The three distinct forms of yeast in terms of degree of moisture content are dry yeast, compressed yeast, and cream yeast.
